The smartest thieves in San Antonio

Hola a todos........I'm in Texas for various reasons, visiting friends and today checking out the UT campus!!! Cross your fingers for that acceptance letter...........

After being in Texas for 2 HOURS this is what happened....

I haven't been in Texas since I was 5 years old. I was actually born here! Apparentely the thieves in San Antonio wanted to give me a nice welcome back.

John and I went to lunch and to the mercado and were gone a MAXIMUM of 2 hours, we had paid for the car to be WATCHED in this parking area. Well, the man you pay to watch the cars DIDN'T and we got back to the car and it had been broken into.

Now, smart thieves would have taken my entire suitcase (2 of them actually) but these guys did not find the laptop under the seat (john's) and instead of just taking my suitcases emptied them out and took specific items.

They took
my suitcases (not full, but with the items they liked, afterwards I picked up things and said, HEY why didn't they take this!!?! this is nice!!!! what's wrong with them!?!)
my running shoes and all the gear (ipod, watch that chip that my brother gave me for christmas)
my salsa shoes
all my new clothes and old fancy schmancy clothes
ONLY my new socks (no tags or anything, they just inspected, those expensive running socks)
tin of cookies
cds
hairdryer
all the body shop stuff
my journal (written ALLL IN spanish and ironically, THEY CAN READ IT because they are mexican! You'll find out how I know below....)
john's entire bag and cowboy hats

they didn't empty the whole bag, they actually left a lot, but you know broke the window..

Important PIECE: they took John's phone
So I CALLED THE PHONE to see if they would pick up...and they picked up TWICE!

conversation:
john (J) you stole our stuff
guy: No I didn't I bought this phone off of a friends
J> no it's mine, and we can find you because we have the fingerprints
guy; Man can you call me back, I'm at work right now
John> ummmm, NO, we want our stuff back, are you having fun prancing around in those salsa shoes?
guy: I'm not even wearing those shoes
john>send back the salsa shoes and the ipod and i wont press charges
guy; no way

they talked for AT Least 10 minutes then I have been texting them back and forth and calling them because Johns phone was a prepaid so they are continuing to use it. They just say, hey what's up? que onda?

I'm sure they are having a GREAT time reading my journal IN SPANISH

two days later (in Austin) John's car got towed at Julianne's apartment complex....THE LUCK!!!!

Florida is a country?

I haven´t written in here....since the beginning because I have gone through some really hard months.  The whole ex leaving me situation has hit me more as time has gone by.  INstead of getting easier, it has actually gotten harder.  In any case, I feel like I have come out of this hole that I was in and am going to begin to build UP!!!! SO now, I can come back to earth and BLOG!! es una buena idea, no?

Some fun stories:

I was driving to Florida and I saw the sign for the Florida-Georgia border and I instantly thought, SCHEISSE I don´t have my passport! How will I get past border control?!?!?! (Kristina, Florida is NOT another country)

I´m going to Texas this week for 6 days to see friends and check out Austin since it´s one of the two places I applied for my Ph.D.  I really feel like I´m going to another country...(my mother says that some people in Texas actually DO believe it´s another country!)

Quotes from Kristina....that show my intelligence:

Bird (my brother) Do you have a six pack?
Me: no i just I have a vertical line and two horizontal lines crossing it.
Bird: So you have a six pack.

(back in high school, leaving Borders)
Me: I wish there were a place you could rent books (instead of buying them from Borders)
Bird: That´s the library.

(talking to Laila on the phone)
Me: She´s not stalking me. She just follows me and goes to places that I go.
Laila: that´s the definition of a stalker.

Ok! enough for now! BASTA

glad to be back!

Adiós bank charges!

Go ahead and look forward to an upcoming blog describing in full detail the phenomenon of las hermanas.  I know you are dying to know the history, as are most.  In the meantime, enjoy this las hermanas story that will give you a little insight into our crazy world. :)

As seen in the above picture, my sister and I have matching rings.  They are not exactly the same....but almost. (can you tell whose hand is whose.....which one looks older ;) ?
A long long time ago my grandfather gave his four daughters each a star sapphire ring....each one was a little bit different.

When I was, oh say, 10 I decided to steal that ring from my mom´s jewelry box and start wearing it...it´s been on my hand ever since.  Later, my aunt (my sister´s godmother) decided to pass down the ring to my sister since my aunt didn´t have any daughters.

People notice that my sister and I have the same ring and therefore are in the presence of las hermanas power.  We like to but our hands together, kinda like in Captain Planet and claim our superpowers....you wouldn´t believe the things these rings are capable of...which leads me to BANK OF AMERICA....

In my current poverty situation, I actually went under in my checking account for the first time.  I decided to go up there to bank of america and beg them to take the charge off.   Here´s what happened...

Customer Service Frau (CSF):  How can I help you?
Kristina: I was charged for going under in my account and I was wondering if you could take it off.
CSF: Well let´s take a look.
Kristina: Wow, you have the exact same ring as me.
CSF: We do.  My sister also has this ring.
Kristina: Really? So does my sister.
CSF: Yeah my mom and my aunt passed the rings down to us.
Kristina. WHAT? SO DID MY MOM AND MY AUNT!!!
CSF: Do you get a lot of compliments on the ring?
Kristina: Yes all the time!
CSF: Where are you from? (when people ask me this I assume they mean from what country)
Kristina: USA
CSF: I mean what state.
Kristina: Oh, here.
CSF: Oh, (disappointing look).  I´m from New Jersey.. we´re Italian.
Kristina: UM, My parents are from upstate New York and my mom´s
Italian!!
CSF: Maybe it´s an Italian thing!!!
Kristina: maybe!!
CSF: I´ll go ahead and take care of that charge for you..wink wink.
Kristina: Wow! gracias! (I really did say gracias not on purpose)

Of course I IMMEDIATELY told my hermana the story and she said,
"Next time you go into bank of America, just flash them the ring and say "you know what to do"

hahahahahaha.  Love it! this ring does have powers!!

You are either in or you are out.....auf wiedersehen

Ok, I gave in.

Blogging is "in" And since my hermana told me in her Heidi Klum voice "Kristina, you are out, Auf wiedersehen" I decided, well I´ll have to do something to be in, no? hahaha.

I had a billion really cool blogs names which apparently everyone else also had, so those were....."out."  I thought I really had it with my logo and the ever so famous "rutina Kristina".  TO YOUR AND MY OWN surprise SOMEONE already has a blog named rutina kristina....how that could be....I dont know.  Thankfully, NO ONE has a blog named LA rutina Kristina....which I do enjoy putting the article in front of everything.  I am going to the Blockbuster, I got it at the Wal Mart...this is my friend la Julia....etc.

Since I have now turned myself in to the blogging world (oh help me) and I just bought myself my own computer (yay!) I guess I´ll start off how Greta did with that list of things you might not know.....(I think she started off like that) A little introducción, no?

I have two main goals in life:

A. speak 10 languages...not necessarily super fluent but enough to get by.  Ideally fluency would be the goal, but that all depends on where my life takes me (If I am single and no kids that won´t be too difficult!)  I have already chosen those languages the are (in the order of those which I already know and those which I want to learn) English (duh), español, Deutsch (German), Italiano, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Swahili, Russian.

B. Travel to all 21 spanish speaking countries (can you name them all?) and the other countries in the world too :)

ok one more.......
C. represent the nations(assumed knowledge by those close to Kristina)

RUTINA KRISTINA:  Let´s explain this because it´s imprescindible (essential) if you spend 5 minutes with me....(god this blog is already so self-indulging!)  When I was in España I hurt my shins and I couldn´t run.  I didn´t want to join a gym, because I was already taking flamenco classes so I got myself a Yoga Mat and started..........Rutina Kristina.  It´s my routine, which changes every day.  It can be done inside or out, and can be so hard that you are dripping sweat or not sweating at all.  It´s a combination of everything i have learned from videos, trainers, Crew team, everything!!! I put on a CD and depending on the type of music, do an exercise for the length of time of each song.  It can be anything like jumping jacks, lunges, yoga stretches....stairs....it´s crazy.  I change it all the time and have been doing it for 4 years now.  When people ask me what I do to work out (cause I get asked that all the time, j/k especially when I am wearing a thong leotard) i just tell them rutina kristina....it´s hilarious.  I love it and it´s free!!! but you have to be insane enough to make yourself do this in your basement or in your teeny tiny Spanish apartment.

ok that´s enough for the introduction...Lauren I will complete your survey thingy....but later....how am I going to compete with you three!?!?!?!  Can I discuss second language acquisition and salsa dancing on a regular basis? :) hahahaha or should I say in spanish jajajajjaa.
